Sedgley's Christmas lights switch on afternoon is promising plenty of music and festive treats

There will be plenty of music and activities at the Sedgley Christmas lights switch on afternoon.

Residents are being invited to kick off the festive season in style on Sunday (November 23) with an afternoon of entertainment being organised in Sedgley town centre by Dudley Council.

Entertainers at the community afternoon will include will include singer Kenny Craig who says: "I've taken part in various community shows in Sedgley for about six or seven years now. 

"It's nice to see the community get together and have fun and celebrate Christmas. I've been on the music scene for 30 years and I like to give something back to the community."  

The festive lights will be switched on at 6.30pm.

Entertainment in the town centre including children's rides will run from 9am to 5pm and Black Country Radio will have the stage with live entertainment all day right through to the big switch-on at 5pm.

In Stourbridge, the lights will be switched on Saturday (22) with a full day of events running from 10am to 7pm on the High Street. There will be free parking on council-owned car parks.

Dudley Christmas Market and Light Switch-On will follow on  December 6 from 10am to 6pm on the High Street near Dudley Market. 

The event is free to attend and will feature a variety of activities including live music, food stalls, Santa's Grotto, and market stalls.

The switch on shows are among numerous being organised by councils and traders across the region.
