Rev up the festivities: Willenhall Lock Stock to host Christmas transport festival this weekend

On Sunday (December 14), Willenhall Lock Stock will be holding their second Willenhall Lock Stock & Transport Show Christmas Festival in Willenhall Memorial Park.

"We have not cancelled an event ever," said organiser Nigel Dutton "so dress for wet and cold weather. Bring a camping chair and umbrella if you're staying for the movie at 6.30pm."

The event opens at 12 noon with local stalls, food and drink and a small funfair. Activities will then be run from the Willnhall Bandstand including:

  • 1pm - Sass Brown

  • 2pm - Gospel Choir

  • 3pm - Bhangra Smash Up

  • 4.30pm - Ruby Doo 

  • 6pm - Santa Torch Walk

  • 6.30pm - Movie - The Polar Express

  • 8pm - Close

 The Santa Cruise leaves the Wakes ground at 5pm. Below is the route the Santa Cruise will be travelling on and the local community is invited to pop outside to give the Santa Cruise a wave. 

  • Sunday 5pm - start at Wakes ground

  • Turn left onto Walsall Road

  • New Road

  • Pinson Road

  • Little London island

  • Monmore Lane

  • Lucknow Road

  • Coppice Lane to Amery Club

  • Cannock Road

  • Milestone Pub and pause for a few minutes 

  • Essington Road back to Lichfield Road

  • "Square" New Invention and pause for a few minutes

  • Lichfield Road

  • Poole Lane

  • Bloxwich Road North

  • Lane Head Bridge

  • High Road Lane Head

  • Clarkes Lane

  • Walsall Road and proceed back to Wakes ground

"At Wakes ground," explained Nigel Dutton "we pause and realign the cruise with Santa at the front. We then proceed to the main entrance of Willenhall Memorial Park through Pinson Road for 6pm. The Santa car will leave the procession to drive solo around the Park. Santa will then arrive at the Bandstand for the outdoor movie at 6.30pm.

"In our memories are Carnival processions and festivals in the Park and we are attempting to bring a little bit of those magical days back for a new generation. Pop down to the Park Sunday afternoon, spend some time and company and celebrate this wonderful Christmas time. You are the music."
