Ofsted praise for village school near Bewdley
A Wyre Forest village school has been praised by Ofsted inspectors as being “highly ambitious” for pupils who “enjoy their lessons and achieve well”.
Children and their families expressed their pride in being part of Far Forest Lea Memorial CE Primary Academy, describing it as a “caring and nurturing school”.
Ofsted graded the school “good” in all five areas inspected – quality of education, behaviour and attitudes, personal development, leadership and management and early years provision.
Mokshuda Begum, head of school, said: “I am so proud of what we have achieved and I am pleased the Ofsted report highlights our ambitious curriculum and recognises the positive culture and climate at Far Forest.
“We remain committed to building upon these strong foundations and are excited about the journey ahead.”
Ofsted reported that pupils “behave well”, enjoy a “rich and diverse” curriculum in which reading is given a high priority and that staff teach phonics “consistently well”.

The inspectors noted how “carefully” pupils’ learning is checked to identify and address any gaps in their knowledge and understanding.
The teaching of children with special educational needs was also praised in the report, which said: “Pupils with SEND are well supported. The school has a clearly defined approach which ensures that any additional needs are identified at an early stage.”
The inspectors, who recommended developing pupils’ debating skills, added that children could talk confidently about their work, enjoyed many opportunities to develop interests or experience new activities in after-school clubs and were “proud” to take on roles of leadership and responsibility.
The school is part of the Severn Academies Educational Trust and Shelley Reeves-Walters, executive headteacher for the trust’s six primary schools, said: “I’m delighted the report recognises our commitment to providing the best all-round education, learning experiences and personal development for our children to thrive.”
