Summer ball to raise funds for two amazing charities
The lady captain of a Wyre Forest golf club is aiming to raise £5,000 for her two chosen charities through a showpiece summer ball event.
Suzanne Baldwin, lady captain at Wharton Park Golf & Country Club in Bewdley, is hosting the event at the club on Saturday 26 July, aiming to split the money raised between the Cameron Grant Memorial Trust and the Sara Severn Area Rescue Association.
The event, which is open to all, will see live music from local musicians Contraband, a drinks reception and a two-course meal prepared by the club’s award-winning chef Dave Jenkins, who worked under renowned celebrity chefs Marco Pierre White and Gary Rhodes.
Suzanne Baldwin said: “The charities were chosen, along-side the men’s club captain Rich Rodgers, for our captaincy year for the amazing work they do to help people every day.
“Both charities rely on donations and are absolute inspiration in so many ways, so I wanted to really focus on raising as much money as possible for them. The summer ball promises to be a fantastic event and will really help with our fundraising target. It’s going to be a great night where people can dress up, eat wonderful food, and enjoy the great music on offer.
“I’d like to thank everyone who has booked so far for their support and I can’t wait for the event at such a stunning venue.”

A table of 10 is priced at £350, with individual tickets costing £42. The summer ball starts at 6.30pm.
Aside from the July event, Suzanne has been holding fundraising raffles and cake sales throughout this year for the charities, with the money raised going towards the £5,000 target.
The Cameron Grant Memorial Trust is a family run charity and was formed after Cameron, 21, took his own life in November 2014. The charity aims to preserve and protect good mental health in young people through a variety of initiatives, including signposting to key networks and creating promotional support material.
Meanwhile, the Sara Severn Area Rescue Association was formed over 50 years ago and is a volunteer lifeboat and inland search and rescue charity, with seven lifeboat and rescue stations along the length of the River Severn. Working closely with HM Coastguard, every year its teams are called out over 100 times for emergencies.
