Bridgewater Home Care joins hundreds in honouring local veterans at commemorative event in Short Heath

Bridgewater Home Care proudly stood alongside hundreds of local residents and supporters at this year’s Veterans Day commemorations in Short Heath, Willenhall on VE day. Led by Christopher Taylor and his dedicated care team, the company paid tribute to the brave men and women who served in the armed forces and reaffirmed its commitment to supporting the local community and those who have given so much in service.

The event, held near the Lane Head War Memorial and the peaceful Memory Orchard at Coppice Farm, was a moving display of remembrance and community spirit. Attendees gathered to unveil a beautifully crafted commemorative bench, now a permanent tribute to local veterans and a space for reflection and honour.

Bridgewater Home Care has long championed community causes and shown support for older individuals, including those with military backgrounds. Their presence at the event not only demonstrated respect for past generations but also reflected the organisation’s wider mission to deliver compassionate, dignified care to those who have served their communities and country.

Speaking after the event, Christopher Taylor, Managing Director of Bridgewater Home Care, said: "Veterans Day is a poignant reminder of the courage and sacrifices made by so many. It’s important that we continue to honour their legacy, not just on days of remembrance but through ongoing support and connection. We were incredibly proud to be part of such a heartfelt event and to stand shoulder to shoulder with others in the community."

The commemorative bench is located in a meaningful spot between the Lane Head War Memorial and the Memory Orchard, and close to the commemorative tree planted in honour of Queen Elizabeth II. It now stands as a lasting symbol of respect for veterans and the continued gratitude of the Willenhall community.

Bridgewater Home Care, which provides award-winning, person-centred care to individuals in their own homes, is known for its community-led approach and strong local ties. Their involvement in events like Veterans Day reflects a deep-rooted ethos that goes beyond care delivery one that centres on community engagement, social connection, and emotional wellbeing.

Local councillors, veterans' organisations, and families of those who served also attended the event, creating a powerful atmosphere of unity and appreciation. Bridgewater’s participation helped foster a shared sense of reflection and remembrance, reinforcing the company’s reputation as a valued and active part of the community.

The team is now looking ahead to further opportunities to support local initiatives and continue advocating for the wellbeing of older people, including veterans and their families, across Willenhall and the wider West Midlands region.
