Hamlet’s Crafty Crowns, taking place on Saturday, June 28 between 10am and 12 noon, will give children aged four plus the chance to immerse themselves in the world of the great Bard.

The crafts session hopes to encourage a love for literature and theatre while celebrating Stafford’s popular and long-running Shakespeare Festival.

Hayley Coles, Cabinet Member for Communities and Culture at Staffordshire County Council, said: “This workshop is a fantastic opportunity to introduce children to Shakespeare and let them begin a relationship with literature, theatre and writing that could span their whole lives.

“Stafford is very proud of its decades-long tradition of celebrating Shakespeare and it’s great that our libraries are getting involved. Paper crowns and flowers of all colours, shapes and sizes will be the focus of the session, all inspired by the scenes and characters of Shakespeare’s Hamlet.

“The drop-in session promises to be a great event and I’d encourage families with young children to come along and join in the fun.”

The Stafford Shakespeare Festival will see a Production of Hamlet at the Stafford Gatehouse Theatre running from June 24 to July 5.

The crafts session is free and there’s no need to book. Further details are available from Stafford Library.
