Blackburn 1-1 West Brom Player Ratings

Albion suffered a set-back after being held to a 1-1 draw at Blackburn.

Matheus Pereira of West Bromwich Albion and Lewis Travis of Blackburn Rovers.

Slaven Bilic's side created a host of chances at Ewood Park but their failture to score that second goal cost them three points.

Here we rate the players.

Sam Johnstone

There are plenty of games where Johnstone doesn't have a lot to do. But he always steps up when Albion need him. Made an outstanding stop to deny Jacob Davenport when the midfielder was one-on-one. Also produced a smart save to keep out a Danny Graham header. 8

Dara O’Shea

Another solid showing from the youngster who kept Blackburn dangerman Adam Armstrong in check. Almost scored with a fierce effort from 20-yards and did his best to offer an outlet down the right. 7

Kyle Bartley

Was in the right place to clear a Lewis Holtby effort off the line and also made an important block to deny Sam Gallagher. But Bartley will be disappointed that he failed to stop Sam Gallagher for Blackburn's goal - with the former Southampton man brushing by him too easily. 6

Semi Ajayi

Under instruction to find Kamil Grosicki with raking diagonal balls, it was a tactic that saw Albion get a lot of joy in the first half. Bright in possession throughout, Ajayi also impressed defensively. 7

Conor Townsend

Good in the air and strong in the tackle, Townsend was another defender who put in a steady display. But he struggled to get forward, with Kamil Grosicki lacking support at times. 6

Romaine Sawyers

The deepest of Albion’s midfield three, Sawyers started really well – with his incisive passing giving Albion a platform to dominate. But he struggled to get a grip in the game when Blackburn upped the ante in the final 20 minutes and needs to be a touch more consistent. 6

Jake Livermore

The skipper should have doubled Albion's lead before the break but saw a low drive saved by Christian Walton. Bright on the ball, it wasn't until he was subbed that Livermore's impact was really noticed – with the Baggies badly missing his organisational skills and leadership. 7

Filip Krovinovic

Scored with a smart volley. But sadly it was his miss just after the re-start that proved the game's most memorable moment. After Matheus Pereira saw a shot parried, Krovinovic looked destined to fire into an empty net only to hit the post. You can't help but feel if he scored, Albion would have won the game. 6

Matheus Pereira

Fantastic yet again. Pereira had a huge hand in Krovinovic's goal and also created excellent chances for both Austin and Livermore. Comfortably man of the match he again showcased what a wonderful player he is. 8

Kamil Grosicki

The winger's pace ensured he was a threat throughout and he forced Walton into a smart save with a fierce low drive. But too many times he was guilty of getting into good positions only for his final ball to let him down. 6

Charlie Austin

Produced a clever cross to find Krovinovic for Albion's goal, Austin also impressed with his work rate. He'll be hugely disappointed, though, that he didn't take at least one of the two chances that came his way. 7

Grady Diangana (for Grosicki 59)

Brilliant against Derby, Diangana looked very rusty here with his passing wayward and finishing erratic. 5

Hal Robson-Kanu (for Austin 59)

Struggled to make an impact. 5

Rekeem Harper (for Livermore 68)

The youngster struggled to get to grips with the game and was wasteful in possession. 5

Callum Robinson (for Krovinovic 80)

Not used: Bond, Furlong, Phillips, Brunt, Hegazi
