Wolves winger Bakary Sako could join Leicester City after he was reportedly offered a big deal, dashing West Brom and Aston Villa's hopes of signing him.

The Foxes are looking to bolster their squad after they impressively avoided relegation last season and see Sako as an ideal option.

Stoke are also now thought to have firmed up their interest for the Mali international. The Foxes looked at Sako in January, as did Queens Park Rangers.

Everton – believed to be Sako's preference for a new club – maintain an interest in securing his signature, with Sunderland and Newcastle also in the mix.

But his wage demands could still the sticking point, particularly for Villa and Albion, who would also have to stump up a sizeable signing-on fee.

And Leicester may be in pole position to sign Sako after making a bold statement with a £50,000-a-week offer.

Sako has scored 36 goals in 118 league games for Wolves and is available on a free transfer on June 30.

Meanwhile, Wolves have been linked with a move for Swansea midfielder Leon Britton.

The 32-year-old has fallen down the pecking order at the Liberty Stadium and may have to move to get first-team football.

Britton is no stranger to Wolves boss Kenny Jackett, with the midfielder there during the duration of Jackett's three-year stint with Swansea.

He was a key member of the team that won promotion to the Premier League under Brendan Rodgers in 2011, but made just nine league appearances last season.

Britton said last week: "I spoke to the manager (Garry Monk) just before the end of the season and we talked about the frustrating season I'd had.

"He sees things being very much the same next season, if not worse with me being out of the squad completely, because he is trying to push young lads like Jay Fulton and Matt Grimes through."
