Wolves were today hoping for a double boost for Blackburn after Michael Kightly and Sylvan Ebanks-Blake returned to training.

The pair missed Saturday's final friendly against Real Zaragoza with respective knee and hamstring injuries.

But manager Mick McCarthy is hopeful both will be in contention for the Premier League opener.

He said: "Sylvan is hoping to train fully this week – he was out running today. Michael Kightly is hoping to be out there too.

"The swelling has gone and he was back out there running today. He's far better and far more optimistic than he was when he did it so he'll be alright.

"He just over-extended his knee and there was a bit of swelling on it.

"But he went for a scan and he's fine - there's no structural damage.

Asked if they will be fit for Saturday, McCarthy said: "I don't know yet."

The Wolves boss is less hopeful on Kevin Foley, but hopes to have longer term casualties David Edwards and Sam Vokes back in training by the end of the week.
