West Brom defender Billy Jones today insisted the chance to be record-breakers will spur his team-mates to end their season in style.

The in-form Baggies full-back has set his sights on a trio of Hawthorns records to cap an impressive first campaign under Steve Clarke.

And Jones reckons all three milestones are still in their sights despite a run of just two points from their last four games.

He said: "We have talked about our targets weekly and we want to reach 50 points, finish within the top eight and get the record number of wins in the Premier League.

"Those targets are still the same and they are still achievable with five games to go."

West Brom are three points away from chalking up their best-ever Premier League points total with the 47-point haul they achieved in the last two seasons currently the mark to beat.

They need one more victory to amass their most ever wins in a Premier League season – they are currently level with last season's total of 13.

And a finish of ninth place or above would represent their highest position at the end of a Premier League campaign.

That would represent a hugely successful first season at the helm for Clarke and Jones said: "He has been great. I think everyone would agree.

"It was a hard job for him to take over from Roy Hodgson after how well he did but at the moment it looks like we are going to set records again this season.

"For a first season as a new gaffer, he's got to be really happy. He sets really high standards and doesn't accept anything less.

"He was really disappointed on Saturday with our first half against Newcastle because he sets standards so high and anything below that isn't acceptable.

"There are sometimes raised voices, but he expresses himself with how disappointed he was, and we knew in the first-half that it wasn't good enough.

"He told us what we needed to do differently and we took that on board."

Jones expects to be fit to face Southampton on Saturday despite having four stitches in a gash on his leg after scoring his first Baggies goal in Saturday's 1-1 draw with Newcastle.

He suffered the injury in an accidental collision with Magpies forward Moussa Sissoko.
