Leeds United’s transfer announcements are becoming like something out of Peep Show

We’re so confused.

The summer of 2017 is undoubtedly the summer of football clubs one-upping each other in terms of transfer announcements, but Leeds are doing things their own way.

The Championship club have been busy signing players ahead of the 2017/18 season, with 23-year-old forward Caleb Ekuban arriving from Chievo just days ago.

And so Leeds announced it in this rather Peep Show-esque way – oh what a tweet it would have been had David Mitchell been involved.

A 6/10 effort, but nothing too out of the ordinary. It certainly wouldn’t get a second series.

But Leeds weren’t done yet. In an extraordinary turn of events, two days later it emerged that new signing Ekuban had in fact got some news for Leeds fans.

He was about to be joined by someone else.

Was he there the whole time?!

The new signing is 26-year-old Samuel Saiz, who came up through the ranks at Real Madrid, but these days can be found helping Leeds make very confusing videos.

All that begs the question: how long will this Peep Show-style sequence of signings go on? Is it only a matter of time before Robert Webb shows up with a pair of maracas?
