Jofra Archer took a spectacular catch and two wickets in Hobart's win over Brisbane

Jofra Archer took two wickets and a spectacular catch to help Hobart Hurricanes maintain top spot in the Big Bash League table.

Brisbane Heat batsman Max Bryant looked to have hit a six over mid-on in the third over, only to see Archer catch the ball one-handed and, realising he was about to step over the boundary, throw the ball in the air and step back over the rope to complete the dismissal.

Archer, 23, then took the wickets of Chris Lynn and Matt Renshaw in his first over before finishing with two for 28 as Brisbane were restricted to 145 for six from their 20 overs.

In reply, Matthew Wade was dismissed for 12 before D’Arcy Short (68 not out) and Caleb Jewell (61 not out) combined to reach Hobart’s victory target in just 14.2 overs to complete a nine-wicket win.

In the day’s other game, Sydney Sixers took one ball less to beat Adelaide Strikers by eight wickets courtesy of half-centuries from Moises Henriques and Daniel Hughes.

The visitors had been restricted to 124 for eight from their 20 overs and despite losing Josh Philippe and James Vince (nine) early on, Henriques (61 not out) and Hughes (51 not out) ensured the Sixers eased to victory by reaching 130 for two from 14.1 overs.
