Anthony Davis had another huge game as the New Orleans Pelicans continued their winning streak with a 125-116 victory over the struggling Phoenix Suns.

Davis has been in a rich vein of form recently but he managed to reach even greater heights against the Suns as he poured in 53 points and grabbed 18 rebounds in a dominant display.

It was a season-high points return from the 24-year-old and the fifth time in the last seven games that he has scored at least 38 points.

Jrue Holiday added 20 points for the Pelicans as they made it six wins on the trot to turn up the heat on the top four in the Western Conference.

The Houston Rockets still dominate that division, however, and they extended their winning streak to 13 with a 96-85 triumph over the Utah Jazz.

James Harden led the way with a double-double of 26 points and 11 rebounds as Houston remained narrowly ahead of the Golden State Warriors, who made it three wins on the bounce with a 125-111 victory over the New York Knicks.

At the other end of the form spectrum, the Memphis Grizzlies joined Phoenix in crashing to a 10th successive defeat as they were beaten 109-98 by the Boston Celtics.

The Sacramento Kings, who are sandwiched between the Suns and Grizzlies at the bottom of the Western Conference, are also in poor form as they slumped to a fourth consecutive defeat after going down 118-100 to the Minnesota Timberwolves.

Boston’s win keeps them within touching distance of Eastern Conference leaders the Toronto Raptors, who got back to winning ways with a 123-94 triumph over the Detroit Pistons.

DeMar DeRozan and Kyle Lowry both poured in 20 points apiece for the Raptors, with Serge Ibaka adding 19 points and nine rebounds.

Elsewhere, the Los Angeles Lakers defeated the Atlanta Hawks 123-104, the Brooklyn Nets saw off the Chicago Bulls 104-87, the Dallas Mavericks were 109-103 victors over the Indiana Pacers and the Oklahoma City Thunder defeated the Orlando Magic 112-105.
