Aussie ace Sam Masters, who remained in the UK throughout the winter, has been at Redcar and Leicester in recent days and looked like he had never been off the bike.

Rory Schlein has also been at Leicester, new signing Tom Bacon has also started practice and Luke Becker has started racing in Poland.

Broc Nicol remains in America racing and both Ryan Douglas and Nick Morris have combined meetings and practice at home in Australia.

With the opening night at Monmore Green approaching on Monday May 17 with an open meeting, details of which are yet to be confirmed, the countdown is very much on.

Masters said: “It’s been a long winter and it’s such a great feeling to be back on the bike, I’ve enjoyed it and I’d go out and ride every day if I could.

“It just makes me want the season to start tomorrow, not in a month! Everyone is keen to get going and get busy!” Masters has a good feeling about Parrys International Wolves’ chances of success. He added: “I’m confident of a successful season with Wolves, we’ve only made one change from the team we had lined up for last year and I reckon we have strength in all departments of the team.

“It’s a shame we lost Jacob Thorssell but we still look solid and I think we can challenge for the title, that’s what we’re aiming for.

“We all know each other and we’ll welcome Tom as the new signing, I’m sure he’ll settle in pretty quickly.”
