Wolverhampton Wolves start road trip with tough test
Wolverhampton begin a run of three consecutive away fixtures with a trip to reigning Champions Swindon on Thursday (7.30).
It’s a clash that sees the current top two in the Premiership go head-to-head in what could prove to be an important early encounter.
The Parrys International Wolves have been in stunning form at home, but away from Monmore Green things haven’t run as smoothly.
Despite securing a consolation league point at Rye House, it could and maybe should have been more after letting an eight point lead slip.
And just last week, Wolves crashed to a 24-point defeat at Belle Vue in the Knockout Cup.
But with meetings at Leicester and Poole to come next week as well, team manager Peter Adams wants to see his side take their home performances on the road with them.
He said: “We spoke in Monday’s team meeting about how important these three away meetings are.
“We’re looking for a minimum of three points from the three meetings and I wouldn’t be satisfied with anything less than that.
“So I’ve given the team a benchmark, now it’s up to them to meet it.
“It’s a bit early in the season for the meeting with Swindon to be a top of the table clash – but that’s exactly what it is when you look at the current standings!
“We’re going there in good heart on the back of a workmanlike performance at home to Somerset on Monday and we’re looking for another positive result.”
