The 20-year-old racer bagged 12 points in his programmed rides to reach the semi-final at Berwick on Tuesday.

There he finished in the top two alongside Connor Mountain to join reigning champion Robert Lambert and Belle Vue and Workington star Dan Bewley in the Grand Final.

Greaves was involved in a tight battle with Mountain before eventually being forced to settle for third place. Greaves was pleased with the way his night went though and was glad to achieve his minimum aim.

“Third’s a good place to come,” Greaves said.

“I was aiming to get on the rostrum because I finished fourth last year so I’ve gone one better than that.

“It could have been better with second or first of course but I’ve improved on last year so I’m happy.

“Fair play to Robert though – he was awesome.”
