They took on Stafford Road A in the Bryn Williams Handicap League Cup and were never in danger of seeing their 77-point handicap advantage being wiped out.

Matty Sargent got them off to a flying start as he extend their lead with a 63-point triumph in the opening frame.

Stafford’s Keith Poston did his best to repair the damage by beating Jason Fletcher by 34 points.

But it was one-way traffic from then on as Athenaeum’s Neil Harper and Dave Garratt took the next two frames, giving team-mate Steven Fletcher an advantage of 145 going into the final frame.

Fletcher took a fortunate opening red to leave Danny Ludgate needing snookers and a scrappy frame came to an end when Ludgate conceded with a few reds remaining to hand Athenaeum their first League Cup triumph.

Pelsall clawed back a 216-point deficit over six frames to beat Aldridge Cons B and lift the Reg Oakes 3x2 Handicap trophy at Bloxwich Sports Club.

Scott Tapper started the victory charge by winning the first two frames, aided by a break of 31 in the second, by a combined 115 points.

was first up for Pelsall and he managed to pick up his opening frame but some good play and potting from his opponent Mike Mobley meant he could only pull back 23 points.

The second frame was different however as Scott got more chances to score and he made the most of them with his biggest contribution a break of 31 as he took the frame by 92 points.

Chris Jones continued to pile on the points for Pelsall, knocking in a 43 break on his way to a 2-0 success over Rich Parker and giving his side a small advantage going into the final match.

Nathan Aston then made sure of victory with a run of 39 giving him the opening frame against Tony Walker before he took the second to seal a 517-419 success.
