Shock win for John Fallows in Handicap Cup

John Fallows caused an upset to knock Matthew Davies out of the Staffs & West Midlands Grandmasters Handicap Cup quarter-finals.

Fallows made the most of his 21-point start per frame to take the opening two frames and, despite Davies taking the final frame of the match, he couldn’t undo the earlier damage as he succumbed to a 208-186 points loss.

Milan Krstanovic overcame a 49-point deficit per frame to eventually see off his opponent Pete Darby as he managed to take two of the frames on the night to seal a 243-201 victory.

Peter Robbins – who had a 63-point advantage each frame – knocked out Paul Lloyd, while Adrian Rosa overcame a 49-point per frame deficit to get past Colin Payne with breaks of 54, 40 and 31.

There was also quarter-final action in the Foursomes Championship, with Hotshots duo Karl Ashmore and Jamie Brown seeing off Jack Harris and Steve Barton 3-0 at Landywood.

Ian Duffy and Rob Wharne held off the challenge of Wednesfield pair Oliver Spooner and Mitchell Lowbridge, while Richard Davies and Colin Reade made it through after they beat Phill Bellingham and Ricky Sadler 3-0 at Pennfields.

Elsewhere, there was a match in the Six Reds Championship, where Luis Ferraro beat Lee Thomson at Woodfield.
