Trysull Tigers North and Stafford-based Milford Athletic have each been backed with £1,000 courtesy of Persimmon Homes West Midlands’ Community Champions initiative.

The housebuilder has a strong presence locally, with its Lyne Hill Meadow development in Penkridge and Akron Gate in Wolverhampton, and feels it is important to support the local community.

Tigers spokesperson Jason Round, said: “We are thrilled to receive this donation from Persimmon Homes. It will mean that we can kit out our under-8s team to make sure they look and feel the part.”

Each month the housebuilder donates up to £2,000 to community groups within the region.

Milford Athletic have recently set up an under-7s team, with the funding helping to get them up and running.

Kirk Lowe, from Milford Athletic FC said: “Our new team will be so pleased to hear about their new football kit and tracksuits.

“Milford Athletic FC was established in 2008, but we are continually trying to expand. The u7s will be playing in games and tournaments in no time – and we’re thrilled that Persimmon has helped them do this in their new kit.”

Amanda Rogers, head of sales at Persimmon Homes West Midlands, said: “It is our pleasure to hand over community funding to these two brilliant football clubs.

“Both play a vital role in the community and we hope the players look the part in their new kits.

“If people were unsuccessful in their Community Champions application, we urge them to visit the Persimmon Homes website and to try again this year and hopefully they will become our next recipient.”
