Sneekes junior agrees a deal with Rangers

Black Country Rangers boss Pete Whitehouse is continuing to give youth a chance after snapping up another talented youngster, writes Nick Elwell.

Whitehouse has added 16-year-old Jamiroquai Sneekes, the son of former Albion star Richard, to his West Midlands League Premier Division pack.

Sneekes will go straight into the squad for tomorrow’s homes clash with Wednesfield – a game that sees sixth in the standings host fifth.

The arrival of the attacker follows hard on the heels of the signing of 23-goal marksman Luke Morris from Bridgnorth as Whitehouse continues the overhaul of his squad.

Having taken charge around Christmas following the departure of Wayne Spicer, which also see a number of players leave, Whitehouse is pleased with how his squad is shaping up.

“There has been a big transformation of the playing squad,” said Whitehouse.

“There are now only a few players left from the previous regime and we are at the stage where we are now putting out the squad we want to put out,” said Whitehouse.

“We have a youthful squad and that was something we wanted,

“We signed Luke last week, who is 22, while Jamiroquai, who is 16, has joined us this week.

“I believe that if you are good enough, then you are old enough and Jamiroquai will be involved in the squad tomorrow.”

Both Rangers and Wednesfield are still in with a shout of a top three finish but qualification for the FA Cup tops the agenda for Wednesfield boss Danny Carter.

Carter has overseen a fine campaign at Amos Lane and is hoping the excellent team spirit he has helped generate will see them achieve that target.

“This club needs FA Cup football next season and the revenue that it can generate,”said Carter.

“I am really happy with how things have gone. We have brought a lot of players in but we have got an amazing team spirit.

“Everyone gets on with each other and that counts for a lot. When it gets tough in the later stages of games, people will go that little bit further for their mates.

“We wanted to generate a good spirit and that has happened.

“We can’t offer the players the money other clubs can so you have to look to do other things.

“We organise social nights and we have a fine system with all the money going towards the players’ end of season get-togther.

“Little things like that help to bring players together and generate a bit of spirit.

“There is a real buzz about the place and it’s great to see.”

Carter will be without central defender Ashley Bellingham for tomorrow’s game.
