Hannah Baines sends the Baggies six clear

Albion Ladies are sitting pretty with a six-point lead at the top of the National League Division One Midlands.

A hard-earned 1-0 success at home to Bedworth United saw the Baggies extend their advantage over rivals Wolves.

Hannah Baines bagged the all-important goal to make it nine wins from nine league outings.

Albion turn their attention to the FA Cup on Sunday when they travel to face Division One North outfit Bolton Wanderers.

Wolves are also in Cup action and face a tough test away to Northern Premier leaders Blackburn Rovers, who have won all 10 of their league games.

This weekend’s National League Division One Midlands action sees Sporting Khalsa travel to Bedworth.

Sedgley and Gornal United’s West Midlands League Division South title hopes took a hit as they slipped to defeat to fellow high-fliers Solihull United.

United got off to the worst possible start when the visitors took the lead within a minute.

They recovered from that early blow to level through Rachel Letford on 15 minutes before United keeper Buioca saved a penalty. But it was Solihull who struck next to hold a 2-1 lead at the break.

United piled on the pressure in the second half but couldn’t find a way through and were hit by two more goals as the visitors ran out 4-1 winners.

The victory moved Solihull, who have won all eight of their games, to within six points of leaders United but with four games in hand.

United face a home derby with Stourbridge on Sunday.

Kidderminster are third in the standings after extending their perfect start to six wins fro six games.

They won 7-0 at Solihull Sporting and next up is a home clash with Solihull United on Sunday.
