Wolves Women's subs are up for the cup

A second-half super show powered Wolves into the next round of the SSE Women’s FA Cup at the expense of Kidderminster Harriers.

Dan McNamara’s side led 1-0 at half-time courtesy of a superb strike from winger Billie Haynes, but then turned on the style after the break to run out 6-1 winners, writes Sam Ward.

Wolves dominated the early proceedings but had to wait until the 28th minute to take the lead when Haynes’ long-range effort flew past the keeper.

The visitors upped the tempo in the second half and went 2-0 up on 53 minutes. Jade Cross set her strike partner Andrea Barnett free and she slotted home.

Anna Price quickly added a third after the ball fell nicely to her on the 18-yard line and her powerful effort nestled in the top corner.

Wolves substitutes Jess Jennings and Nyah Edwards then made an impact after being introduced.

Jennings made it 4-0 with 13 minutes left with a simple tap-in following good work from Cross, and then grabbed her second.

Kidderminster bagged a consolation effort thanks to a fine free-kick from Amber Lawrence, but Edwards rounded off the scoring with a well-placed finish into the bottom corner.

Wolves head to Coventry United Ladies on Sunday in the Birmingham County Cup.

Albion also progressed, but had to work harder to see off Leicester City and book their place in the next round.

Chloe Harper and Gabriella Reid were on target as the Baggies battled to a 2-1 win.

The second half saw United attacking down the slope and they were back in front when Green, who was now back in her normal role on the wing. swung over a corner which saw Letford rise to head the ball home.

The win was sealed with a third from Lauri Alexander, who has now scored in each of the last four matches.

United are in Birmingham County Cup action on Sunday when they travel to face Premier League side Stockingford.

Stourbridge are fourth in the table following a 3-1 win at home to Kingfisher LFC.
