Redhill are just red hot

Redhill School have proved a smash hit on the volleyball court yet again.

The Stourbridge-based school are no strangers to success in the sport and this year has brought more cause for celebration on the domestic and international scene.

Both the girls and boys under-15s have swept their rivals aside on their way to glory in the West Midlands Championship.

And there has been more good news on the individual front where Redhill have seen six youngsters earn international recognition.

Tyler White retained his place in the England under-17 cadet squad while Carla Hulme was also reselected from a pool of 90 in her trials.

But there are four newcomers to the England set-up after Callum Parsons, Yan Naydenov, Daniel Howe and Sebastian Smith netted call ups.

The latest story of success follows on from last year when Redhill provided four players – James Ledbury, Andrew Pearson, David Hodson and Harrison Martin-Lawes – for England under-17s.

They played went on to figure in the Nevza Championships in Denmark.

This year the fab four have progressed through into the England Junior under-19 ranks and are seeking to add their 11 caps at under-17 level.

The youngsters all started playing volleyball at Redhill in year seven having no previous experience.

And the success is a just reward for their hard work and dedication with up to four training sessions each week as well as juggling playing National League week in week out, travelling the length and breadth of England.
