Winger Neto is set to spend around six months out following an injury to his patella at Fulham last Friday.

Defender Otto looks set for a longer spell on the sidelines after injuring his anterior cruciate ligament for the second time in less than a year, as well as his medial collateral ligament.

They have each had their operation now, though, with Neto taking to Twitter to confirm his procedure went as planned.

The 21-year-old posted through his official account: "The surgery went well.

"Already focused on my recovery, thanks for the messages."

Neto has been the standout performer for Nuno Espirito Santo's side this campaign, scoring five times and also chipping in with six assists.

His solo strike at Southampton will likely go down as their goal of the season.

The attacker had to go off in the 33rd minute of the 1-0 win at Craven Cottage following a significant blow to his left knee, with scans later revealing he had broken his kneecap.

Neto will play no further part in 2020/21, or go to the Euros with Portugal this summer, but he will be aiming to return to action towards the end of this year.

Otto, meanwhile, cruelly injured his right knee again during training two Sundays ago – shortly after returning from six months out.

The Spaniard initially did his ACL against Olympiacos in the Europa League last August.

He made his comeback in early February and had played seven Premier League games before his second setback.

A time-frame for Otto's recovery has not been given, but it appears likely it will take longer this time around.
