Wolves Women are out for more success in cup

Boss Dan McNamara says Wolves Women have 'plenty of confidence' behind them going into another big FA Cup tie.

After a 'fantastic' victory over Nottingham Forest which was watched by club chairman Jeff Shi at Castlecroft last weekend, they are now heading to Watford on Sunday (3pm).

McNamara cannot wait for the third-round clash – a chance to make more memories – either.

"Last weekend was fantastic to have Wolves TV there and 1,500 people watching on the live stream," said McNamara, whose side won 5-4 on penalties after drawing 2-2 after extra time.

"It was just an amazing occasion in front of the chairman and his family, and John Bowater, the director.

"Sunday couldn't have gone better, but we've parked that now. We've enjoyed that and we've parked it.

"Now, we're looking forward to a very good test with Watford, which we'll go into with plenty of confidence.

"We're not going there to make the numbers up. We're looking to continue this great journey we're on."

For Wolves, the chance to be back out on the pitch after having two league seasons curtailed due to Covid-19 is not something they are taking for granted.

The test against third-tier Watford – with McNamara's side due to apply for promotion from level four – could offer a glimpse into the future as well.

"We've come back fitter and more hungry," said McNamara.

"Watford are a whole different kettle of fish. Their front three is amazing – players like Rosie Kmita and Helen Ward – but we're going there and looking forward to the test, and testing ourselves against the best.

"This is what we've been longing for, for two years now – games against tier three opposition and above.

"We'll enjoy it and see what the day brings, but we'll really give it a go."

He added: "The girls are feeling confident. They had a glimpse of what the future might look like last Sunday, with Wolves TV there and all the media attention they've had.

"That's what we want. We want to be recognised, in the public eye.

"They've had a taste of it and are certainly looking for more."
