Nuno: Lack of control cost Wolves

Nuno Espirito Santo has blamed a lack of control over the game as his side’s second half collapse saw them throw away a two-goal lead against Brighton.

After Aaron Connolly put the hosts ahead, Wolves fought back and were 3-1 up at half-time.

Only 11 seconds into the second half Joao Moutinho tripped Neal Maupay in the box, and the striker smashed home the penalty.

Brighton controlled large parts of the second half and eventually equalised through Lewis Dunk as Nuno was left disappointed with his side’s lack of game management.

“We’re (frustrated) a lot,” Nuno said.

“The first half was very good and we knew Brighton would react.

“We had to control and we didn’t do it. After that it was hard.

“It’s disappointing because in this game we must perform much better in the second half and control it much better.”

With the final touch of the game substitute Owen Otasowie directed a free header from six yards over the bar, in what could have been the winning moment for Wolves.

Although the 19-year-old was upset at the final whistle, Nuno is backing him to ‘react.’

“Of course he is (disappointed) because he has his chance,” Nuno added.

“But he’s young and talented and for sure he is going to react and he will have another chance like this.

“This is what he has to think, for him and all the young players that are helping us in this tough moment.

“This is about getting chances and experience that can make him a better player in the future.”
