Steve Bull Q&A: The aeroplane celebration? It just took off!

From my favourite Wolves goal to why I started doing the aeroplane celebration, I am answering your questions again this week.

Thank you very much for sending them in – let’s get cracking.

Where did you get the aeroplane celebration from? And if you are right-footed, how did you score over 100 goals with your left? (@wolvespremier)

The aeroplane – God knows where that came from! I just didn’t know how to celebrate, whether to put my hand in the air, roll over or do a backflip, so I just put my arms out like an aeroplane.

You are flying cause you have scored a goal – and then I guess you could say it took off.

And I was definitely right-footed but Graham Turner, when I told him I couldn’t use my left, said ‘just swing it’.

Those were his exact words and I scored one straight into the top corner against Bolton in ‘89, so I just kept using it from then.

As good as Thommo was from the spot, do you regret never being the main penalty taker? (@nwall89)

I’d got no choice! I missed one against Sheffield Wednesday, against Kevin Pressman, and then for the one after that, Thommo ran past me, took the ball and said ‘I’ll have this one’.

He had a go and scored it, so he carried on with it and I didn’t have a chance to score any more.

What do you think about the salaries players receive these days? (@lincswolf)

To be fair, I’d make it more based on games. If you were on £50k-a-week, for example, I’d put them on £10k salary and £40k as a playing bonus, so they have to earn it.

It’s not the players’ fault – it’s the TV money that has done it – but there should be a structure in place where you have to earn it a bit more.

Can you confirm that your strike against Bolton at the North Bank end in 1989 was you best goal of the 306? (@brimfieldben)

That is the one I’m on about that flew in the top corner. I’d say it was the best with my left foot, but the best overall has to be against Birmingham (pictured celebrating) – in the 94th minute when we beat them 3-2 at Molineux in 95/96.
