The club are looking for a replacement for Kevin Thelwell, who moved across the pond in February to join New York Red Bulls after more than 11 years at Molineux.

It is understood, though, that the process to find his successor has been shelved and will not start again until the virus clears.

Wolves had started speaking to possible candidates – via a recruitment agency – before all elite football was suspended because of the outbreak until at least April 30.

It is believed the role could evolve and decisions are still to be made over exactly what responsibilities any future recruit would have.

The club have also been without a chief executive since Laurie Dalrymple's departure last July.

Chairman Jeff Shi, with the help of other senior staff, has taken on more work since Dalrymple's exit, and then Thelwell's, and is expected to retain some of those responsibilities when the new person arrives – once things return to normal.

Wolves, meanwhile, have no plans to furlough staff amid the pandemic.

Owners Fosun have already donated 2,300 pieces of equipment to health teams in Wolverhampton, too.

Protective clothing, consisting of face masks and coveralls, were sent to New Cross Hospital and Public Health teams in the city.

A donation of 12 tons of medical supplies arrived in Portugal earlier this week as well.
