The 20-year-old has recently returned from the issue, which kept him out for the best part of three months.

And speaking to former Wolves goalkeeper Matt Murray as part of the Premier League's Heads Up mental health campaign, he said: "Throughout my injury, knowing when I was going to get back – I wanted a date.

"But then when I got that date and didn't get to it, I was beating myself up.

"I felt like I had let the team down. That wasn't a good thing, to put pressure on myself.

"After that date had gone, I just thought I'm going to take my time, do things properly and get back when I'm going to get back.

"I would be in the physio room, seeing everyone else lacing up their boots. It's the worst feeling, seeing someone else doing what you want to do.

"But it's all part of the process. You have to have those low points to come back stronger."

The Heads Up campaign's underlying message is to get people talking about their mental health.

And Gibbs-White, who says his father was the person he spoke to most about his problems while on the sidelines, added: "What the Premier League are doing is massive, to create awareness for people who haven't openly spoken about it yet as I think that's the main target.

"The more awareness we create, the more good it's going to do."
