Wolves' Pedro Neto impressing Nuno after early ‘issues’

Wolves boss Nuno Espirito Santo is delighted with the impact Pedro Neto had off the bench at Norwich and feels he is improving after 'some issues'.

The 19-year-old winger had a big hand in the winner at Carrow Road, playing a one-two with Jonny Castro Otto and crossing into the box – where Raul Jimenez found the net after Matt Doherty's effort was saved.

The all-important goal came just four minutes after Neto – signed alongside Bruno Jordao in a double-deal from Lazio in the summer – was introduced in Saturday's 2-1 victory.

And Nuno said: "Of course, I'm happy because Pedro is improving.

"He's a young boy, and the talent is there. He's working.

"He had some issues, but now he's growing and improving.

"And we need all the solutions we can have."

Neto has now made 11 appearances in the league for Wolves, with 10 of those as a substitute.

After early promise, he struggled to make an impression for several weeks – but Nuno believes that was down to the teenager picking up a couple of knocks, which he is now over.

"Physically. At the beginning of the season, he came late and had some problems," said Nuno.

"Then, he had an issue in the national team (Portugal Under-21s) which delayed his preparations.

"Now, he's getting back like all the players.

"He will have ups and downs, and we have to manage them, but we're happy because we need solutions. That's something we definitely need."

While Neto impressed on the left of the front three as a substitute, Adama Traore again caught the eye on the right-hand side.

The Spaniard had more joy as the game went on and was the victim of yellow-card challenges from Sam Byram and Grant Hanley.

Byram and Hanley became the 25th and 26th players respectively to be booked for fouls on Traore this season – in the speedster's 27 appearances.

Rough treatment has been a common theme, but Traore kept his cool and Nuno added: "It's the way that he does things. I always say the referees are there to judge.

"It's two bookings and I don't know if it could have been more.

"It's hard to stop him, but the law is there. He keeps standing up, and he keeps going.

"But it's not only him – Diogo Jota, Raul Jimenez, Pedro (Neto). It's all the players who like the one-v-one situations.

"Let the referee decide, and then do your stuff."
