Reaction to the Result

I think it’s about time that we saw a shaky defensive performance from Wolves and that’s exactly what we saw in the first half.

We all said how well the team has adapted to the loss of Boly, but the defensive unit in the first half was a shambles.

A two minute spell where Wolves were caught napping cost them the lead. However when you have a front three like we do, you’ve always got a puncher's chance.

It certainly wasn’t good enough and nowhere near the standard we’ve set the past few weeks. A real frustrating afternoon where Wolves’ biggest threat was themselves.

Man of the Match

Diogo Jota got back amongst the goals and was the stand out player in a very poor Wolves team. By no means at his best though.

Something to Improve

Everyone had an off day. Even the usually dependable Moutinho didn’t look himself.

I’m not sure how Doherty finished the game either as that’s the worst I’ve seen him play since Man City away last season. I’m expecting a big reaction against Spurs if Nuno decides to rest players on Thursday.

Reaction to the Result

We never win at Brighton, so to escape with a point and go 11 games unbeaten made the twelve-hour round trip worthwhile.

We were good value for the point too creating several chances against a very confident looking opposition who also had opportunities to score.

With a high tempo to the game it was a joy to watch. One query, when is a hand ball not a hand ball? VAR continues to have a laugh at our expense.

Man of the Match

Defensively we were too easily caught out by the ball over the top. Our three amigos in attack provided most of our highlights.

Jonny however was excellent throughout, earning an assist by contributing in our high press and makings several good runs in the final third, my MOTM.

Something to Improve

Goal kicks let us down. Kicks wide to Doherty and Traore just surrendered possession. A variation was needed, why not straight up the middle to create a chance like the Jimenez header to Jota that should have put us 2-0 up.

Reaction to the Result

In the end it wasn’t a bad point considering we weren’t at our best. It is difficult to win every game, play brilliant every game and with such a small squad, it does take its toll.

We should have gone 2-0 up when Jota went through on goal but both goals we conceded were avoidable, however it was extremely important to equalise just before half time.

I’m hoping Nuno rests key players on Thursday because we’ve qualified and I know we can still get first place but we are relying on Braga dropping points too.

Spurs is going to be a tough game and I really think the rest will do the players some good, hopefully Marbella works it’s magic too.

Man of the Match

Jota, Jiménez, Traoré and Neves stood out for us. Jota’s two goals were important, both of them were down to good work from Raúl and Jonny but the second one was a brilliant swivel and finish.

Jiménez worked tirelessly and him being banned on Thursday is a blessing in disguise because now Nuno can’t use him at all even if he wanted to.

Traoré’s impact wasn’t as big as previous games but he caused major problems on the break in the second half and was always a threat.

Neves kept everything simple, moved the ball really well and he was key for getting the ball to our front three quickly.

Something to Improve

That Jota chance to make it 2-0 was game changing. If that goes in, we probably win the game and then a few minutes later we end up being 2-1 down.

We switched off for the goals and at 1-1 we just needed to keep the ball for a few minutes and calm it down because they had the momentum.

However we’ve been brilliant at getting ourselves back into games all season and we showed that again yesterday.

Reaction to the Result

I’m pleased to continue the unbeaten run, but disappointed that we didn’t close out the game when 1-0 ahead.

Jota scored a very good goal on 28 minutes, after a fairly slow paced opening period. He was linking up well with Jimenez and we were starting to take control.

He had another chance for 2-0, where he didn’t get his shot in quickly enough; within 3 minutes of this it was 1-2. How did that happen?

Jota then made amends with a great turn and shot to make it even at the break.

It was a poor second half and I feared the worst when Glenn Murray came on towards the end.

Man of the Match

Jota looked back to his best. Worked hard, linked well with Jimenez and rewarded with two goals. He really should have scored the hat-trick, but he gets my Man of the Match.

Traore was well marshalled by Brighton. Nevertheless, he continues to look dangerous and was fouled a number of times with all 3 bookings being for fouls on him.

Something to Improve

Our defence were surprisingly shaky throughout this game. Not something we are used to, but they could not get to grips with Moy or Maupay.

We did not get players forward quickly enough to support Jota and Jimenez. Neves and Moutinho were not making it to their box, and different to West Ham, neither was Dendoncker.

A few tired legs at the end, but I would have kept Jota on given his goals and performance. They deserve their break in Marbella. Let’s hope they return refreshed with some big games coming up.

Reaction to the Result

Two minutes of defensive madness cost us dearly as we went from one up, which could and should have been two as Jota failed to convert a more than decent chance, to 2-1 down before half time.

Diogo made up for it with the leveller and it then reverted to the “let’s kick Traore” half hour. An away point against the bogey boys, 11 unbeaten and 6th in the league. Happy days

Man of the Match

Nice to see the old Diogo back and Traore destroyed them

Something to Improve

Cut out the crosses, but a good away point
