Raul Jimenez: Wolves not distracted by Nuno being linked with Arsenal

Wolves hotshot Raul Jimenez is ignoring the speculation linking boss Nuno Espirito Santo with Arsenal while he aims to carry on his rich scoring form.

The Gunners have sacked Unai Emery after reports over the past week of the club being interested in the Portuguese's services.

Nuno is one of the bookmakers' favourites for the job in the North London, although he dismissed the matter as 'not a reality' before seeing his side make the Europa League group stages by drawing at Braga on Thursday.

"Nuno's a very good manager. We all know that," said striker Jimenez, with Arsenal having made former player Freddie Ljungberg interim chief.

"We're making good things, since last season when we got into the Premier League.

"And before, when I was not here, they were champions of the Championship.

"We're working good, working hard. There is speculation, but we're going to keep working to be the team that we want to be, making him better and us better.

"He's very important for us, every time he speaks with us it's very important.

"He knows a lot, so he is very important for the team."

Wolves are fifth in the Premier League table ahead of hosting Sheffield United on Sunday.

The Gunners, meanwhile, are eighth going into their trip to Norwich.

For Jimenez, the focus is on continuing to find the net, having done so a whopping 15 times already this campaign.

"It's something good for me because last season, I scored 17," said the Mexican.

"At the beginning of this season, I said I want to get over that, so I only need three goals to make it.

"It's still not December, and I'm making it good, making it well. I hope that I can keep scoring and making goals – to be at the top."

But while he wants to smash his tally from last season, Jimenez does not have another set figure in mind he wants to reach.

"I don't put a target as every match is difficult," he added.

"But we know if we work as a team, everyone doing what they must do, we can make it – and I can make it."
