Nuno Espirito Santo’s team will face Watford at Wembley next month with the club in the last four for the first time since 1998.

Doherty has starred during Wolves’ run to the semis.

And he said: “No-one will want to face us. Manchester City will be favourites to win the competition but nobody will fancy playing us.

“It was pretty special on Saturday.

“We didn’t dominate the game but we limited them to not many chances.

“We looked dangerous on the counter-attack.

“We felt we were the better team, we didn’t panic, they had some possession in the first half but it was in front of us, they never really carved us open.

“On the counter we looked like we could make chances, win corners or score.

“Their keeper pulled off an unbelievable save from Jimenez.

“After that we got the two goals and it was pretty comfortable in the end.”

Captain Conor Coady stated it was the best win of his career to date.

Doherty agreed, saying: “Well, if we win the final that would be it! But so far now, yeah, probably yes, just considering the opposition and the fact it took us through to the semi-finals.

“We played the game-plan perfectly, we stayed calm, we didn’t rush out when we didn’t need to.

“We frustrated them, they didn’t get in behind us.

“The atmosphere even before the game was special. It was a great night for the whole club and everyone involved.”

Wolves now believe they can win the club’s first FA Cup since 1960, 59 years ago.

Doherty said even in the third round ,they thought they could go on a run.

“We’ve been in it to win it from the start to be honest,” he added.

“The further along you get, the more you start to believe.”
