Wolves legend Steve Bull: Matt Doherty is the man

With Ryan Bennett suspended, we are all wondering who will take his place for Wolves tomorrow.

Romain Saiss and Leander Dendoncker are the frontrunners to come in at the right side of the back three at Chelsea, but I wouldn’t go with either of them.

For me, Matt Doherty is the man who should fill the void for these next two league games while Bennett is banned – for picking up 10 bookings this season.

And that is because Doherty is more of a defender than Saiss and Dendoncker.

If you are looking for someone to man-mark Blues talisman Eden Hazard at Stamford Bridge, I think he is the man to do it.

Moving him inside from his usual right wing-back slot would also allow Adama Traore to continue out wide, on the back of his great showing against Cardiff.

Traore’s pace on that flank could prove crucial as we’re probably going to be penned in our own half for good spells of the game, so he could be the one to push us up the pitch.

Otherwise, Nuno has some tough decisions to make. Does he bring Ruben Neves and Joao Moutinho back into the team?

Does Saiss drop to the bench despite his sublime showing against the Bluebirds?

Do you rest Diogo Jota just to be sure he will be fit to face United in the FA Cup quarter-final next weekend?

In all honesty, I would rather not be in Nuno’s shoes as he’s got so many options at his disposal, although it is a small squad on the face of it. It is a game I am thoroughly looking forward to though.

The Blues are desperate to break into the top four and, being the home side with an under-pressure boss in Maurizio Sarri, all eyes are on them.

We are going into it with confidence after getting back to winning ways last weekend, and they played on Thursday night so they could be a bit leggy.

Either way, I think it is going to be an exciting game. We are quite similar to Chelsea in that we are quite capable of playing a possession game, while also having the speed to hurt teams on the break.

It could well turn out to be like a game of table-tennis – back and forth throughout. Hopefully, we can complete the double over the Blues.
