Left-back Elokobi spent six years with Wolves, from 2008 until 2014, and has just begun a new chapter in his career.

The 33-year-old joined non-league Aldershot Town earlier this week.

And he is hoping to find more joy, to add to one of the greatest moments of his life – scoring in a 2-1 win against Manchester United at Molineux in 2011.

“It was a great few years. The rise was quite fast for me at the time,” said Elokobi, reflecting on his time at Wolves which included Championship and League One titles.

“It felt surreal. It’s not sunk in yet as I’m still playing.

“I haven’t actually sat down and summarised how my career went. I’m just enjoying it still.

“But that moment was special. It was every boy’s dream to play against one of the greatest clubs in the world.

“Scoring against Manchester United will live with me for the rest of my life – it is 100 per cent one of my greatest memories.”

Elokobi joined Wolves from Colchester United in January 2008 and went on to make 103 appearances for the club, scoring four goals, becoming a cult hero in the process for his wholehearted displays.

“I didn’t know how it was going to work out when I joined, but my debut against Blackpool, I gave it my all,” he said.

“Straight away the fans could tell I was someone who played with great heart and passion.

“I stayed like that for the longer period of my time with Wolves.

“I’m really glad the fans took me in and made me part of the club.”

Elokobi had spells away from Wolves on loan, at Nottingham Forest and Bristol City, before his release five years ago.

He then signed for Oldham Athletic before going back to Colchester and then signing for Leyton Orient via a loan stint at Braintree Town.

The Cameroonian then left Orient by mutual consent at the end of last month and made his debut for the Shots – also in the National League – on Tuesday night.

It was not an ideal debut as they lost 3-0 to Solihull Moors, but Elokobi is just thankful for everything that has come his way as a professional footballer.

“When I think about how it’s gone, I feel really privileged and humbled,” he added.

“I’m just thankful to the Wolves fans for supporting me.

“My spell at Wolves felt like it went on forever.

“There are so many fond memories with Wolves, representing such a huge club was the icing on the cake in my career.

“For that, I’m truly grateful because some players will go through their careers without an experience of this nature.”
