Isaac Hayden: I don't know why Wolves are seventh

Newcastle midfielder Isaac Hayden struggles to see why Wolves are seventh in the Premier League.

Hayden's Magpies lost 2-1 to Wolves at St James's Park in December and drew 1-1 with them at Molineux on Monday night.

Hayden scored for Rafa Benitez's team in the latter, with his strike cancelled out by Willy Boly late on, and said: "If I am being brutally honest, I am struggling to see why they are seventh.

“We have given them two good games this season, one at home and one away.

“We have come out of them both thinking we deserve a lot more from both of them."

Hayden then did admit there is a reason why Wolves are where they are, having 'done well against other good teams'.

Newcastle are currently 16th in the table.

“But the table doesn’t lie, they have done well against other good teams, so they deserve to be where they are, but it is disappointing really," said Hayden.

"We said before the game we need to think about the Wolves game last time when they nicked a result in the last minute and they have done it again.

“It is one of those frustrating things. They are not a bogey team but we have played them twice and played really well both times and just for some reasons that last ounce of concentration wasn't there.

“But we can't fault the effort or performance away from home. They are seventh and the table doesn't lie."
