Nuno: Willy Boly red card 'clear' in Wolves loss at Manchester City

Wolves boss Nuno Espirito Santo had no complaints about Willy Boly's red card in their 3-0 loss at Manchester City.

Boly was sent off early on, after lunging in on Bernardo Silva, in the biggest defeat of the season for Nuno's side.

His dismissal was Wolves' first this term, with Gabriel Jesus' double and a Conor Coady own goal giving the hosts a comfortable win at the Etihad Stadium.

"I didn't see the images, but it was very close to me and I think it was a red card," said Nuno.

"It's clear, isn't it? It's a red card."

Boly, who will now serve a three-match ban, was sent for an early shower with Wolves 1-0 down.

And Nuno said on the performance: "We are sad, disappointed.

"But, at the same time, we have to look at the game, knowing what happened.

"We started well, and then we conceded in a way we shouldn't concede.

"Then the red card. Man City was on the score and the speed they have the ball is not the speed we usually (have to cope with).

"I think the only positive is that it was an experience for us.

"We have to know that it can happen and with one man less, we have to know that there is still something to do.

"At that point, we have to improve, but we knew it was tough - and it became harder.

"But the hard work of the boys was something that was there until the last minute, so that will give us something for the future."

Meanwhile, Nuno said he was 'surprised' to hear of Conor Coady being linked with a move to Arsenal.

Rumours began yesterday that the Gunners are interested in the Wolves skipper, who is also reportedly set to receive an England call-up soon.

But on Coady, and Leo Bonatini potentially moving to Greece to join PAOK, Nuno added: "I'm being surprised with those things, so I have no comment on that."

The Express and Star understands Bonatini will be allowed to leave once Wolves know they can get another striker in.

They have given up their chase of Villa loan star Tammy Abraham though, due to the player's reluctance and lack of assurances from FIFA over the third club rule.
