Conor Coady hailed Wolves’ return to winning ways and stated: “We needed that.”

Victories over Chelsea and Newcastle have moved Wolves back into the top half of the Premier League, having previously lost five of their last six matches.

Captain Coady said: “It’s been an unbelievable week. We’ve bounced back from where we were, we don’t really want to look back to that now.

“We’ve always taken it one game at a time – the character the boys showed was fantastic.

“We needed the wins, we were in a bit of a bad run. Hopefully we can kick on. It’s always happy when you’re winning, it’s a good feeling for everybody involved.”

Wolves left it late at St James’ Park with Matt Doherty’s winner coming four minutes into stoppage time.

Coady said it was tough to overcome the 10 men of Newcastle.

“We all know how tough it is going to Newcastle, I thought they were good and it might sound daft but it always becomes tougher when teams go down to 10 men,” he added.

“They become more focused, they’re in shape, they drop deep. When we broke, we broke at pace and thankfully Doc was there to finish it off.

“When you’ve got Doc with that engine, he could have scored just before that as well.

“We’ve done it a couple of times this season and got our rewards in the end.

“We look to Bournemouth now.”

Diogo Jota scored in the wins over both Chelsea and Newcastle, after previously not netting since April.

Coady said the Portuguese forward had shown his true character.

“He’s never changed in training, he’s never stopped working hard,” the centre half said.

“The way he’s come through this little patch that everyone’s talked about – the players haven’t talked about it – is fantastic.

“It shows what a good player he is and the character he’s got within himself. We, as players, know what he’s got and what he’s going to bring to the team.

“The good ones come through it. He’s kicked on these last couple of games and been sensational for us.

“Everyone saw it last year, they saw what he brought to the team.”

Nuno had made several changes in the past two games and Coady said it would be needed in the months ahead.

“Everybody knows you’re going to need changes in the Premier League, it’s such a tough division, people can’t play game after game, especially the forwards and wing-backs,” he added.
