Dean Saunders: Wolves lacking belief but they'll be fine

Former boss Dean Saunders believes one win can get Wolves back on track again as he cited a lack of belief in Nuno Espirito Santo's side.

Wolves have lost five of their past six matches and dropped down to 12th in the table.

However Saunders, who lasted five months as boss in 2013, says Wolves need to look at the bigger picture.

"Right now it's a great place to be, you knew they'd have a (bad) run at some point," Saunders said on TalkSport.

"They've got a stable club, rich ambitious owners, Jorge Mendes who's getting some of the best Portuguese players in and they've got a really good team, plus good support, the fans are brilliant.

"Last season they were playing against Millwall's strikers, this season you've got Aguero one week, Lacazette and Aubameyang the next and it wears them down, eventually.

"Once they lose a bit of belief, which is what's carried them through, that's what you see, six games without a win. They'll come back."

Wolves host Chelsea on Wednesday and then travel to Newcastle on Saturday.

Saunders added: "They've come up last year, they're rolling everyone over and they've got total self belief in everything the manager says, in every team selection and every decision.

"They trust each other with the ball.

"Now you haven't got as much of the ball and you're playing against teams who punish you and you're getting beat, all of a few players suddenly go 'I don't really want the ball' and they lose a bit of self belief.

"You quickly lose it and you can't see where the next win is coming from, unbelievably.

"They just need a result to get the belief back, a happier training ground and you start again on a run.

"If you just woke up this morning and you're a Wolves fan who's been sleeping for a year, and they're 12th in the Premier League, you'd be delighted. Get the big picture."
