Wolves fan Carl Falconer, from Coseley, organised the event to mark 15 years since Wolves beat Sheffield United 3-0 in Cardiff in the 2003 play-off final.

The manager of that team, Dave Jones, as well as players Paul Butler and Colin Cameron, shared stories of the play-off win and their Wolves careers at the Mount Hotel in Tettenhall.

The trio took to the stage for an hour Q&A with Wolves commentator Mikey Burrows.

And an auction of Wolves memorabilia, hosted by Steve Saul, saw around £7,500 raised for Pancreatic Cancer UK and Birmingham Children’s Hospital.

The night, which coincided with Pancreatic Cancer Day, may become an annual event. It was also held last year when Alex Rae and Andy Goram were the guests on stage.

Carl, who has been a Wolves fan since 1974, said: “I lost my mother three years ago to pancreatic cancer. My brother-in-law passed away with leukaemia at the age of 20, so that’s why I choose to go with these two charities. They’re close to home.

“It’s been a lot of work to organise the night! Just to get the auction prizes was stressful.

“It was organised to mark Pancreatic Cancer Day and hopefully we’ll make it an annual event.

“We coincided it with the play-off final, which was one of my favourite days as a Wolves fan.

“I was there, right behind the goal. As a one-off day it doesn’t get any better than being at Cardiff to see that happening.”

Butler brought his shirt and his medal from that game for the occasion. Auction items included paintings, Diogo Jota’s boot and a signed Ruben Neves shirt from a game last season, which fetched £1,000.
