Ennis lit up a 2,741-strong Molineux last night with a sensational strike to beat Manchester United 2-1 and move to the top of PL2 Division Two.

The 19-year-old is keen to make up for lost time after two long-term injuries.

"It's been really hard for him. A couple of years ago he was in and amongst it, people were talking about him and he was playing for England (U18s)," said Edwards.

"He went on loan to Shrewsbury and it didn't work out because of injury.

"He's shown a lot of a character. I said to him, 'you're back'.

"How good did he look? I hope he takes a lot of confidence from that, a lot of belief.

"I know there's a really good player in there – and I think he showed it."

Ennis grabbed the spotlight – cutting inside from the left and lashing the ball into the top corner – after Benny Ashley-Seal's opener for Wolves was cancelled out by Mason Greenwood.

"It was outstanding. I thought he was brilliant," added Edwards.

"The goal was one of the best I've seen live – it was that good.

"He deserved it. His all round-game was brilliant, everything was on point with him – his work rate, aggression and touch.

"He was excellent and he epitomised the whole group.

"They showed a real togetherness. I'm delighted."
