Steve Bull: Wolves' strong start has sent out a statement to rivals

If Wolves make the top 10 this season, I will be the happiest man in Wolverhampton.

Expectations are high among the fans, which can be expected given our start, but we are only seven games into the Premier League and can’t be getting too ahead of ourselves.

In the words of Nuno: “Let’s take each game as it comes.”

But we have made a strong start to the Premier League and that has sent out a statement to all the other teams this season that we won’t lie down for anybody.

We have already shown that we are fearless – it doesn’t matter who we face, we will just go out and play our own game.

All the players in the team complement one another and know their roles and responsibilities.

Credit goes to the tactical genius of Nuno – his man-management, the way he talks to his players, implements his tactics and keeps his players’ feet firmly on the ground.

You can see this Wolves team are in form by Nuno’s team selection. He has fielded the same line-up in all seven games. That consistency makes his job easier.

Some people complicate football, but there is no need to. Just get down to the basics, work hard and the results will come.

Then everybody can go out on to the football field calm, relaxed and ready to go.

There has been speculation that Conor Coady and Ryan Bennett could earn call-ups for England before the season is out, which is nice to hear, but they have to keep playing well to maintain that interest. And it is not just the English lads who we want to see earn international call-ups, but all our players as that will help bring them on.

We had 10 players last time – and Jonny Castro Otto was called up by Spain this week – so that should provide inspiration to the rest of the team saying you can do it too.

There is talk of Wolves potentially reaching Europe over the next few season and this all shows how far we have come over the past two years. And it is all thanks to Nuno.
