Wolves' Elliot Watt grateful for pre-season chance

Wolves youngster Elliot Watt has expressed his gratitude at being given an opportunity to learn from boss Nuno Espirito Santo and the club’s more senior players.

The 18-year-old midfielder played as Wolves were held to a 0-0 draw in a 45-minute clash against Real Betis at the H-Hotels Cup in Germany yesterday.

“It was a great game to play in as it’s probably the best team I’ve played against in terms of keeping the ball and playing out from the back,” said Watt.

“It’s difficult as I’m playing against men. In the under-23s I’m used to playing against lads a year older, as opposed to 10 years older.

“On the whole, I’m learning about the style and the shape and what the manager expects.

“Coming away with the boys, it’s great to learn how they are on and off the pitch. It’s been a great experience.”

The 0-0 draw with Betis in Bochum came after a loss on penalties to VFL Bochum – after that 45-minute game ended 0-0. The Betis game was supposed to be a third place play-off but, bizarrely, there were no penalties at the end.
