Marshall, aged 27, completed a four-year-move to The Canaries on the weekend after falling short of Nuno Espirito Santo's plans.

But before making the switch, Marshall spoke to Ruddy, 31, who played at Norwich for seven years.

Marshall said: “I spoke to Grant [Hanley], John Ruddy and Benno [Ryan Bennett] and they all spoke really highly of the club. After hearing that, it was a bonus."

Marshall had spent the second half of last season on loan at Millwall where he impressed and was linked with a move to The Den.

But he completed a switch to Carrow Road on Saturday for an undisclosed fee and is tied there until 2022.
