These are the words of elated Wolves fans who are celebrating a third success this season after Wolves goalkepper Carl Ikeme announced he was in remission following a near year-long battle with leukaemia.

Since the Nigerian-born goalkeeper posted the news on social media on Saturday afternoon, delighted and overwhelmed fans and footballers from across the globe began pouring messages of support in.

Wolves tweeted: "There have been some fantastic moments this year but this by far tops them all. We're all delighted for you, @Carl_Ikeme. See you soon."

And Wolves managing director Laurie Dalrymple added: “Amazing news for Carl, his family, his friends, his team mates and the whole football club. Forget promotion and forget medals...this is winning."

Fellow Wolves players also showed their joy at the announcement.

Wolves captain Danny Batth simply said: "THE BEST NEWS EVER."

Midfielder Morgan Gibbs-White added: "After hearing this I haven’t stopped smiling. So happy for you big bro."

While defender Dominic Iorfa said: "That news has made my day. Onwards and upwards bro."

Winger Jordan Graham said it was the 'best thing' he had seen 'in a long time'.

And Harry Burgoyne, goalkeeper for Plymouth Argyle on loan from Wolves, said: "Fantastic news this afternoon of my good friend @Carl_Ikeme. Can't imagine how strong you've been through this tough time! Can't wait to see you bro."

Ahead of this year's World Cup, Carl was selected by Nigeria as their honorary 24th player, as is tradition for the African side - despite Carl having not played since he was diagnosed back in July.

The Nigerian Football Federation wrote on Twitter: "Great News! We are with you through and through and God will see this healing through. #OurCarlIsBack."

Even local rivals West Bromwich Albion showed their support for the Wolves goalie, writing on Twitter: "Fantastic news, @Carl_Ikeme. Everyone at Albion is delighted and behind you in making a full recovery!"

Wolves fans were left delighted with the news, with many saying the news of Carl's remission was even better than the team's promotion to the Premier League.

Iain Brown, a 'Wolves through and through fan' said: "Today is a momentous day for Wolves and their fans. It feels like the title and promotion has happened all over again. The news of @Carl_Ikeme being in remission is quite simply amazing. Can’t wait for the day when we can welcome him back on the hallowed Molineux turf."

And 'lover of old gold' Ian Powell said: "The news from @Carl_Ikeme that he's in complete remission absolutely usurps everything else today. Couldn't be happier."

Carl has not played for Wolves since his diagnosis, and was still battling his illness when the team were promoted to the Premier League earlier this year.

But he rejoiced with his teammates on social media, saying: "Congratulations to everyone involved with our great club. The hard work, loyalty and togetherness is something to savour."

Ikeme was in and out of hospital as he battled leukaemia

In August, Carl spoke out again the first time since his diagnosis a month prior, saying: "I want to thank the whole football world and especially the Wolves fans for the love and support I have received since I was diagnosed with leukaemia."

An astonishing £71,000 plus has been raised for charity Cure Leukaemia by fans and friends alike since July 2017.
