The World Cup-bound Moroccan midfielder played 44 times and enjoyed a consistent campaign at the heart of Wolves’ midfield.

It could be a perfect campaign for Saiss if Morocco, who qualified for Russia without conceding a goal, enjoy a successful World Cup.

And looking back to the domestic campaign, he said: “I remember some games like Bristol and Cardiff, the emotion was so strong.”

“I’ll remember them forever because if you take one game like Cardiff, even friends talk about this game or the press. It was a fantastic game.

“When we concede the two penalties I was like ‘No, please, not now’.

“So I think maybe for this type of game because it was amazing.

“The celebrations with the fans, with my team-mates after on the pitch and the dressing room.

“It was just really good moment and with the promotion and the title, it was fantastic.

“Now I don’t have time to be relaxed!”

Wolves’ close-knit team spirit has been cited as a key factor behind their success.

Saiss said it helped get them through some tough moments, like for example Middlesbrough away when Wolves won 2-1 despite ending the match with nine men.

Saiss ended that game flat out on the turf in one of the defining images of the season.

The 28-year-old former Angers midfielder said of their team spirit: “Yes the game against Cardiff, we kept talking the game against Bristol.

“It was amazing as well. We play 10 against 11 for a long time and we score at the end.

“And the game against Boro for me especially!

“That is the mentality in the team and we show this mentality in this type of game and that is why I think the fans like the team.

“Because we give everything on the pitch and it is most important because you can’t have any regrets after the game.”
