Steve Bull: Days the Wolves players will never forget

The celebrations are continuing at Wolves and it’s been a fitting way to mark what’s been an unbelievable season.

Saturday was another memorable occasion with the team lifting the Championship trophy.

As a player, these are the days you remember for the rest of your life and for most of the boys it was their first time they’d won something, which makes it extra special.

Respect to Sheffield Wednesday who gave us a guard of honour – and then gave us a pretty tough game in what was quite a dull affair.

The Owls came to try to spoil the party and defended well.

We had a couple of decent chances to go 1-0 up in the first half and if we’d taken one I think we’d have seen a very different game.

But it was all immaterial with the day being about getting the trophy and it was nice to see Conor Coady get to lift it with club captain Danny Batth.

Before the game we also got to see Carl Ikeme on the big screen which was an absolutely brilliant moment. Carl keeps fighting and he’s in all of our thoughts.

There’s one game to go but it’s flip-flops time for the lads now, all they’ve got to do is reach 100 points and I’m sure they’ll do it at Sunderland on Sunday.

We also saw John Ruddy get yet another clean sheet against Wednesday, his 24th of the season, which is a phenomenal achievement. He’s had a bit of stick but, for me, he’s been very solid this season.

We’ve known that if we haven’t scored then at the other end we rarely concede, and that takes the pressure off the rest of the team.

The players are off to Las Vegas next week and it’s definitely well deserved, they’ll have a great time... Graham Turner never took us there!

Santa Ponsa in Spain was our destination of choice. Lads, if you can smuggle me in your suitcase for Vegas, let me know!

It’s going to be a great weekend ahead with the Sunderland game followed by the big celebrations in the city on Monday.

There’s a massive sense of optimism around Wolverhampton right now which is great to see.

We’ve been promoted before and just looked to stay up, but the club are looking even higher this time. There are exciting times ahead that’s for sure.
