Some fans will have to pay 30 per cent more for their season tickets next season.

The announcement drew a mixed reaction from supporters yesterday but Dalrymple asked fans to believe in the vision of the Wolves management team.

When asked if the trust and goodwill the club has received from its fans in the past year would continue despite the increase, he said: "I'd really hope so. The quality of the football we've delivered this year hopefully gives us the right to be trusted in terms of the vision and strategy for the club.

"I think we've done enough to say that the direction the club's going in is safe.

"When you look at all the other things we've done this year to enhance the fan experience – and we want to continue that – there are other areas we want to make significant investment. Mobile entry into the stadium, fan engagement – via our website or an intuitive fan app which we could have in place by the start of the season or shortly after – so all the other peripheral things will uplift the fan experience as well."

Just under 21,000 fans can renew their tickets for the prices announced yesterday and Wolves can sell a maximum of around 22,000/22,500 season tickets at Molineux next season.

Dalrymple added: "The 20,800 quite rightly get the chance to renew at a lesser price and retain their seat because they're the ones who've put the commitment in.

"I fully expect us to reach our cap because I firmly believe the pricing structure is fair and appropriate.

"The appetite now, people have seen where this club is going. We have the opportunity now to really kick on. I'm not for one second saying it's a piece of cake but there genuinely should be no limit to the ambition of the club.

"So I think the fans should be sitting there going, 'do you know what, £429 or £550 or whatever it is, I think that's pretty fair value for what I've seen for the past 12 months and I trust the management team to get it right and continue to deliver'."
