Nuno Espirito Santo has hailed his unsung Wolves heroes as he stated there’s plenty of room for improvement for his table-topping side.

Wolves are just one win from promotion and will go up tomorrow without playing if Fulham don’t beat Brentford.

If the Cottagers do win then victory for Nuno’s team against local rivals Blues will guarantee them a place in the Premier League next season.

A staunch Nuno is still refusing to discuss promotion, insisting it’s still one game at a time for his players.

But he did take the time to praise two of Wolves’ unsung heroes after the 2-0 win over Derby on Wednesday.

“There was a player on the pitch on Wednesday that at the beginning of the second half had a very strong kick and was in pain,” Nuno said.

“He held on to the last minute of the game, working hard, running...that was Romain Saiss.

“This balance is what makes good teams.

“And for example how Matt Doherty ran back and recovered the ball at 2-0 up on 92 minutes...having this will to help the team is the most important.

"Of course, the talent and beautiful goals that everyone will talk about...but it goes beyond that.

“All the Wolves players are having something that’s very important for everybody – developing.

“They’re getting better. The players that were here and the ones that arrived.”

While a number of players have undoubtedly improved, Nuno wants more from his squad – including even star man Ruben Neves.

“I think Neves still has a lot to improve,” Nuno said. “Not only him but all the squad.

“The window of growing for a player never finishes. There’s always something to improve if he’s aged 20, 25, 30, it doesn’t matter. We give to them and they receive. If they take advantage of that every player will be better.”
