Much-loved former club historian and programme editor Foz died at the start of the year aged 67.

He was associated with the club for decades and officially started working there in 1999.

Foz was an avid collector of sports memorabilia and the collection includes hundreds of Wolves programmes.

His collection was sold alongside Man Utd memorabilia when Mullock’s Auctioneers brought the hammer down on around 1,000 lots during the two-day sale at Ludlow Racecourse.

From his collection a plaque from the 1959 Charity Shield final sold for £420 while a 1942 Football League War Cup Final programme sold for £520 – £320 above the asking price.

A 1934 match programme from a game between Wolves and Villa sold for £400.

The four priciest items at the auction went for a combined total of almost £60,000.

All four, three medals and a worn shirt, came from the family of Manchester United legend David Herd, who died in October 2016.

Ben Jones from Mullock’s said: “The sale was our best since we sold the Bobby Moore World Cup Football Shirt for £44,000 in 1999.

The Wolverhampton Wanderers collection exceeded expectation with over 95 per cent of this part of the collection being sold.

“The room was again packed with one of the most highly attended sales, both familiar and new faces attended which is great to see.

“There was plenty of online action to with over 260 online bidders competing on a global scale and items being purchased from worldwide collectors.”

Steve Bull, John Richards, Kenny Hibbitt, Andy Thompson, Don Goodman, Willie Carr, Phil Parkes, Mel Eves, Jody Craddock, Steve Daley, Kevin Foley, Sylvan Ebanks-Blake, Tony Daley, Ted Farmer, Rob Edwards, Ally Robertson, Robbie Dennison and Andy Mutch were among those to attend his funeral.
